Happy Friday, boys and girls, children of all ages! It’s shaping up to be a winter-wonderful weekend here in New England, which is apropos for the week leading up to Christmas. So get your holly jollies on and prep for hopefully a slow week.
We’re gonna cut right to the chase here. This is a three ingredient recipe for cheese bread that comes together in maybe thirty minutes. Make it this weekend!
Pre-heat your oven to 425(F). In a medium mixing bowl, combine one cup of self-rising flour and one and one-half cups shredded cheese of any kind. Parm is good, cheddar is good, pepper jack is good, it’s all good. Give this a shake, and push to the sides, leaving a hole in the center.
Pour one cup of milk, buttermilk, or even heavy cream into a separate container. Slowly pour this into the dry ingredients until everything is just combined and tactile. It should feel like, well, kinda shaggy bread dough. You may use more or less than one cup, so be flexible.
Move the dough into a buttered bread pan or small cast iron pan and then throw it in the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes, until the exterior is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when you give it a good tap.
I’d eat this with chili. Make two or three loaves, because it goes fast!
Get out there and enjoy the weekend, nerds!
